My brother lives in America.
27 years and he hasn’t been home.
Before the travel he sold my father’s house and land and car
And turned deaf ears when the street took our rights.
My mother held a prayer meeting and I didn’t say amen.

Last night we met on Facebook.
He said he doesn’t miss home.
Of course, he wouldn’t miss the home he sold,
I told him, and then he said to fuck me.
No one ever said that to me.
Then he calls my father a fuckstick
And says in America there is freedom of speech.

My brother is now remarried.
He divorced his woman and married a man.
He called it freedom to associate.
He says his dick now wears a helmet;
If he needs a child he would go and adopt one.
He uploads a picture of him kissing his partner
Before he types a message, Freedom is life.

This morning my father banned him from
Calling him daddy, and my mother banned him
From calling God’s name.
He says it’s freedom of choice.

One day my brother will jump from a plane
And call it freedom of movement.
